  2. Ok... whoever keeps writing this your clueless. Honestly your ripping on God? What's your problem. He's more real than you'll ever be. In the end you'll be sorry that you didn't believe in Him... I'm telling you. You might be good a drugs you might be good at talking trash but honestly when it comes to Praising God you might as well step back. Go to church dude.. really.

  3. I'll go to church when you pick up a Richard Dawkins book

  4. Haha, more real than one of us will ever be? But... we exist. And it's insanely obvious that we exist.

  5. Richard Dawkins is an ignorant fool.. He says and all atheist say there is no purpose in our life, there is no God. Well if there is no purpose and no God then we should have never found that out. We shouldn't exist right now, but from some odd reason we do. Hmmmm I wonder if God has any part with us existing.

  6. I sincerely doubt, with reason, that god created the universe or that he exists at all, if you'd like to debate that than leave a message...

  7. Shut up all you Christians, stop telling other people to follow your religion and respect everyone else's beliefs, that is why the rest of the world hates you...

  8. hahaha dude the bible is such a fairytale.. how can anyone possibally believe in that.. end yeah evolution cleary proves how we can to be... what did jesus prove? that millions of people are completely gullible and will buy into anything that keeps them sane

  9. people in the old times just needed something stronger then government laws to tell them not to kill each other and steal from one another, hence the 10 commandments, but honestly we don't need religion anymore, we've evolved past it, its just causing more chaos then good and society would be so much better without it, but whatever believe in whatever the hell you want, just don't be such a dick to people that don't believe in the same things you do, this is exactly why the world hates christians they are elitist assholes who look down on everyone

  11. So I'd like to see if I could clear some of this up... Firstly, I consider myself a Christian. I've read Richard Dawkins, and respect many of his ideas; I too am upset that our country is so ignorant as to the issue of evolution. But to be completely honest, I've never understood why religion and science have to be two separate entities. There are many great sources that you can read that talk about Christianity and evolution going hand in hand. I suggest you do a quick google search and take a look at it.

I also suggest you watch Rob Bell's video, "Everything is Spiritual". If you go to the flannel player you can get a free ticket to watch it, it'll be 72 minutes of your time, but it'd be insightful, and something to consider. I only suggest this because I feel that in order to truly know why you believe what you do, it's often very helpful to look what others that you might disagree with are saying.

Navid, Dan, and anonymous before Dan, you all make fair points (although a bit extreme and unnecessarily angry). I also get extremely frustrated when people who claim to be Christians try to force convert others into their own beliefs. But, if you look at the bible, not once does it tell its followers to force people to convert. Rather it makes an unbelievably strong case for love. Jesus claims that love is the most important thing to the Christian religion. So yes, I'm frustrated with the same people that you are frustrated with, but try not to confuse the practices of some so-called Christians with the teachings of Jesus. And Dan, you're exactly right, but be careful to confuse Religion with God. As Rob Bell put's it: "A lot of people confuse religion with God, and walk away from them both. The point isn’t Christianity; the point is being a Christian. It’s being a follower of Jesus. It’s being connected with everything that’s true and good and right; Everything that is going on around us that reminds us that there is so much more going on in this world."

There are phenomena in this world that absolutely scream for the existence of a higher being. The fact that humankind has never been able to pinpoint a beginning of time, or an end to space, is strong evidence for a God that defies our definition of time and space. Think of you and I standing in a 2-D world. A ring passes through our world. We both see a dot, then two lines, then the lines get farther apart and then closer together, then the dot again, then it disappears. Now we can say "hey did you see that? those were two lines that came from a dot, got farther apart, and then left" or... we could say "you know what? I actually think there's something more... I think there's something else out there... What if... What if it's actually a ring?"

  12. Now I don't know all the answers, and that's one of the most exciting things about Christianity is that, like science, you discover more and more insight the deeper you dig. I'm also writing this not to convert you to my religion, or to my beliefs, but rather to defend my own. As you've all made clear above, you don't particularly enjoy it when others blatantly disrespect your beliefs, and so you could probably expect the same reaction out of me. If you read, research Christianity, watch Rob Bell, and still have the exact same opinions, then I will still have the exact same high respect for your opinions, and the same love for you, as I'm taught to have by my religion. But I'm simply trying to help change how narrow-minded our society has become...

Oh and just to refute a couple of points... There is physical proof that Jesus existed, and specific characters, authors, and events of the Bible have been proven to have existed. So the Bible isn't, in fact, a fairy tale.

And also, Religion wasn't actually first formed as a set of laws. Many religions, when first formed, were formed as a means of explaining the inexplicable phenomena. And that's still what Christianity does today, working hand in hand with science.

  15. Hi! I see everyone is really heated here so I will just say that I am a christian and Christianity speaks for it's self... so fighting about it on a chat board is pointless=) If anyone IS interested in some good appologetics then I would encourage you to look at noblindfaith.com
The guy's name is Neil mammen and he is not only a christian, but has been asked to speak in many secular forums across the country. I am not here to turn anyone around on what they believe but it does make me upset to hear people say that Christianity has no evidence or tangible proof in this life. SO if you are open minded on either end of the spectrum.... I invite you to read Mr. Mammens thoughts and research.

  16. A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, "Darkness" on the walls of his cell.~ C.S. Lewis

  17. There is no tangible proof for Christianity, and the fundamental events it depends on are largely fantasy and even the main character, Jesus, depends largely on contradictory evidence to show proof of himself.

The commenter above said that Christianity came forth to explain phenomena, something that many other religions at the time did similarly. That doesn't make it any more true, and it also shows that the religion came about as a feeling of safety and meaning for people living in a world they didn't understand. Now that we can currently comprehend much of our observable universe, religion really does serve very little purpose, and although this will certainly evoke a moral debate, i would argue that modern religion is largely detrimental to society.
